Jim has been in various forms of ministry prior to his return to Portland in November of 2012. He spent his first eighteen years ministering primarily to children and conducting children’s seminars & workshops throughout the United States as well as abroad. He was a lead pastor for sixteen years in California and Ohio. He has a strong calling to lead the church in rescuing young people from the world and creating a church culture where people can use their unique gifting to creatively disciple all ages. Jim received his education from Faith Bible College and Liberty University.
Jim met his wife Betty Brown on May 3, 1978, and the the two were married on October 11, 1980. They have three children, Timothy (born 1983), April (born 1985) and Aaron (born 1988).
Fun Facts: In his free time, Jim loves to ride motorcycles and play drums. He is a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Lakers.
Aaron Brown was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Following high school, he attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood, graduating in 2012 with a degree in Performance. He took a position at Hollywood High School as a music teacher. He then went on to further his education at Liberty University studying for his Bachelors in Psychology. He has been faithfully serving in and outside of the church for 10 years in various ministries. In June 2014, Aaron began working as the Worship Director at Portland Open Bible Church. He loves ministering to people of all ages and participates in several other ministries at the church as well.
Fun Facts: In his free time, Aaron enjoys playing music with friends and spending time researching historical and social topics.
Anna Rivers has been part of Portland Open Bible Church since infancy. She was adopted from Piatra Neamt, Romania, at nine months old and raised in Portland with her parents (Steve and Tracey Icenhower) and three older brothers. Most recently, she met and married her husband John. In 2013, Anna received a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development from Oregon State University. In 2016, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Concordia University with a degree in Special Education; focusing on the Inclusive Classroom. Anna has been teaching in the early childhood setting for over six years. Specifically, she has worked closely with students on the autism spectrum, those struggling behaviorally, as well as students needing extra support in their speech development. Her passion in teaching is making sure that every child will be able to succeed, despite any barriers they may face.
Fun Facts: In her spare time, Anna loves being outdoors, traveling, learning to cook new recipes and playing the piano.
